NA Panel Production Exceeded 26 Billion Feet

North American production of structural panels totaled 26.070 billion square feet (3/8-inch basis) in 2011, off marginally from the 2010 total of 26.202 billion feet, according to APA -- The Engineered Wood Association. Fourth-quarter 2011 production totaled 6.138 billion feet, down from fourth-quarter 2010 output of 6.291 billion feet. Glulam and LVL production increased in 2011, possibly indicating more demand for these products as beams and headers. I-joist production declined, reflecting the decline in single-family home construction.
