CM Perspective: BCMC Is Back to Columbus in 2020!

Greg Dahlstrom is IT/IS Manager at Villaume Industries, Inc. in Eagan, Minnesota. He is BCMC 2020 Co-Chair. Greg also serves SBCA as chair of the IT Committee and is very involved in the association’s Emerging Leaders Committee.

While many of us have been cooped up in our homes, sharing office space with our spouse and attempting to homeschool our kids, others continue to navigate a new normal at the plant, manufacturing components while implementing a host of new safety procedures. Others are still dealing with the reality of executive orders that required them to shut down operations and send their workers home.

COVID-19 has caused a lot of disruption in all aspects of our lives over the course of the past several weeks. Recently, that disruption was felt in a new way as the ripple effects of this pandemic resulted in the need for BCMC to relocate the 2020 show. (Find more details here.)

The bottom line is that BCMC is moving back to Columbus, Ohio in 2020, as well as back one week on the calendar: September 29 — October 2.

What hasn’t changed? BCMC remains the perfect place to “Build Community and Make Connections” in our industry and we are committed to making it the best show it can be. I believe the week of September 29 will be an ideal time to reconnect with friends throughout the industry and learn from each other’s experiences of coping with the challenging times we find ourselves in now.

BCMC may feel like a long time from now for component manufacturers, but it is relatively soon given the considerable planning and hard work our exhibitors, supplier partners, committee members, and staff put into making BCMC such a valuable experience. Please join me and my industry colleagues in maintaining a long-term view and optimistic approach toward this fall.

No matter where you find yourself today, it’s very likely we all have one thing in common: We are ready for this to be over! While no one knows exactly when everything will feel normal again, I do know that there are things to look forward to on the other side of these crazy times — like going to BCMC in a familiar place like Columbus, Ohio.

BCMC has lived through the best of times and the worst of times in its 40-year history. We will get through these memorable months together, and BCMC will be on the horizon to help you Sharpen Your Vision for the remainder of 2020 and beyond.
