In Retirement, Weaver Hits the Road(ster)
SBCA Past President Scott Ward recently ran into Gary Weaver at a car show in Shreveport, Louisiana. Gary retired from the industry last year after selling his truss plant, Timber Tech Texas, to Builders FirstSource in 2015. Gary always had a great passion for the industry: “I was outspoken, but everything I ever said was because I loved the association and the industry,” he told SBCA last year. His dedication was the reason he became SBCA’s top lifetime membership recruiter. It’s also why he was inducted into SBCA’s Hall of Fame in 2015.
In retirement, Gary’s attention has turned to other things, including the fully restored 1932 Ford Metal Deerborn Body Roadster he purchased in July 2016. Scott also discovered that Gary is making plans to move to Australia in the near future.
From everyone at SBCA who had the pleasure of working alongside him, we wish Gary many great adventures down under.
