Going forward, the Florida building code cannot mandate the installation of fire sprinklers for residential construction.

HB 269 (effective July 1, 2013) and HB 973 (effective October 1, 2013) were signed by Governor Rick Scott last week.The two pieces of legislation provide for a number of code related changes beyond spinklers, as outlined here: http://www.floridabuilding.org/fbc/Links_to_Code_Resources.html
