BCMC Blog: A Sunny Start in San Antonio
Again this year during BCMC week, Jess Lohse, President of Rocky Mountain Truss Co. in Havre MT, provides day-to-day updates from the show.
The folks here in San Antonio sure have dialed up some nice weather for BCMC. To say Monday was a "Chamber of Commerce" day wouldn't do this beautiful day justice. While most of the country is battling fall (or even winter) conditions, I was able to explore San Antonio in shorts and flip flops! In today's ever-connected world, it is very easy to over hype and under deliver, but the environment here in downtown San Antonio has allowed us to mix in some pleasure with our business of BCMC. A quick jaunt down the River Walk allowed my wife to plan our meals for the rest of the week!
Word from the BCMC Build has been extremely positive. The project is coming along nicely, and the local news even picked up the story. SPC Cody Nusbaum, this year's homeowner, had the chance to see his future home and meet a lot of the great volunteers who donated their blood, sweat and tears to a great cause! Operation Finally Home has been great to work with, and I would like to give a shout out to a couple of the most involved BCMC Build volunteers: Carl Schoening, Rick Parrino and Jason Blenker.
Speaking to the business of the week—the BCMC show—a quiet optimism is surrounding the facilities today. Suppliers are busy setting up, and staff is getting everyone organized. The convention center looks great and offers the opportunity for a great show. Looking at early attendance numbers, BCMC 2013 should be one of our best shows in quite some time. I look forward to visiting with my fellow CMs and suppliers over the next few days!
