SBCA Professional Education: Attaching Deck Ledgers to Floor Trusses

Please join us on Wednesday, August 31 from 1-2 pm Central for a webinar presented by SBCA staff member Jim Vogt, P.E., on the attachment of deck ledgers to metal plate connected wood (MPCW) truss residential floor systems. Floor assemblies constructed with MPCW trusses are typically not framed with a rim board or blocking panels along the perimeter of the assembly as is the case with floor systems constructed with dimension lumber or engineered wood I-joists.  As a result, the deck ledger must be attached directly to the trusses or to special blocks installed between the trusses.  This presentation will review several connection details developed by SBCA to ensure the deck ledger is safely and securely attached to the floor truss assembly.

The information presented in this course is useful for building officials, component manufacturers, design professionals and framers. The program is AIA approved and continuing education credit (CEU) and professional development hours (PDH) are available. Attendance is free. For participants who need a certificate demonstrating CEU credits, the cost is $25.
