As part of the SBCA-TPI Realignment, the Truss Industry Business Council (TIBC) was created to foster collaboration between the two organizations and ensure initiatives undertaken by either group are thoroughly evaluated for potential impact they could have on business operations of component manufacturers (CMs) and TPI members.
The TIBC conducted its first face-to-face meeting at BCMC in Milwaukee on October 25, 2018. Representing CMs on the council are Greg Griggs (Builders FirstSource), Roger Helgeson (The Truss Company), Mike Ruede (A-1 Roof Trusses), Jeff Taake (Mead Lumber) and Jeff Smith (Trussway); representing TPI members are April Burt (Simpson Strong-Tie), Mark Lee (MiTek), Kevin Kraft (Alpine), Wayne Masengill (Cherokee Metal) and Baird Quisenberry (Eagle). At that meeting, the committee decided that Greg Griggs and Kevin Kraft would communicate weekly to facilitate good dialogue among both the council members and SBCA and TPI leadership.
The next TIBC teleconference is scheduled for December 13, 2018, and the next face-to-face meeting of the council will be held in conjunction with the SBCA Open Quarterly Meeting (OQM) in San Diego, California, on February 26, 2019.
