Networking with and learning from others were top highlights from NFC’s inaugural Framer Summit last year in Milwaukee. The upcoming event in Columbus, Ohio this October 21-23 was designed to deliver the same value.

"As we planned for speakers for this year’s summit, we crafted a theme around where the market is going,” explains NFC President Scott Stevens of ModuTech in Baltimore, Maryland. “We’ll start with a legal perspective from NFC Legal Counsel Kent Pagel. Kent will address what risks and responsibilities framers should be aware as we get more involved in project design and as labor constraints move the market to greater use of manufactured solutions. From there, economist Jacob Belk from John Burns Real Estate Consulting will provide a forecast of where housing is going in general, with a specific look at the future of the multi-family sector, as well as how the labor supply and other demographics could affect the path forward.”

“NFC framer member Ryan Melin from Innovative Construction Group in Florida will round out this theme,” Scott continues. “Ryan is going to discuss his investment in wall panel manufacturing equipment, why he did it, and how it’s helping his business as the industry pivots toward more off-site construction.”

“These speakers are just the beginning,” says Scott. “The goal of this event is to help framers ‘Raise the Bar’ for their companies in the year ahead.” The remainder of the October 21-23 summit, which begins with an evening reception on Monday, October 21, includes a framer tour of Simpson Strong-Tie; committee presentations on best practices, marketing, product performance, safety and standards; and numerous opportunities to network with framers from all over the country.

“My business has substantially grown in the last year and it’s directly as a result of the connections I made at last year’s summit,” says Chris Tatge of Dynamic Construction in Madison, Wisconsin. “I would like to see more framers like me who have a desire to grow their businesses attend this year. NFC has so many resources for guys like us, and I’m looking forward to what’s in store for us at this October’s event in Columbus!”
