Editor’s Note: While the article below details the opening of a door manufacturing facility and EWP shop, the quote by their regional manager and the final paragraph on future component manufacturing expansion give insight into 84 Lumber’s growth plans.

84 Lumber opened a door shop and engineered wood products center in Greenville, S.C. The center officially opened in March but is now serving customers for the first time, according to the dealer.

The 58,000-square-foot facility runs one interior door line with plans to open an exterior door line by early July. 84 Lumber plans to run a second interior door line in the future. The branch currently employs 10 associates and the dealer hopes to double the location’s staffing as the business grows.

84 Lumber relocated some of the engineered wood products operation to Wellford, S.C., after the opening of the Greenville branch. The addition of the EWP plant in Wellford will increase the production capacity by nearly 50%.

“The Wellford/Spartanburg area is an area we are targeting for future growth, so having a location there will set us up for success and allow us to better service our customers in those markets,” Matt Rinck, area manager at 84 Lumber, said in a prepared statement. “I’m proud of the work our team has been doing in this region and look forward to continued success.”

Eighty Four, Pa.-based 84 Lumber is moving forward with other expansion plans in the United States. The dealer has a Mansfield, Ohio, components plant currently under construction and will soon provide trusses and floor panels to the surrounding area. 84 Lumber is also moving forward with plans to expand to Stockton, Calif., Boise, Idaho, and Detroit, Mich.
